Vacancy Details
As per the official notification, the participating banks have shown a total of 6,715 vacancies [as per Annexure I].

Category-wise Vacancy
According to the recruitment notification, 6,715 indicative vacancies will be filled under different reservation categories. The maximum vacancies are in the Unreserved (UR) category with 2,719 posts followed by Other Backward Classes (OBC) with 1,816 posts. There are 1,009 vacancies in Scheduled Castes (SC) category, 669 in Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category and 502 in Scheduled Tribes (ST) category. Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned in the IBPS PO Recruitment 2026 Notification. Nationality, educational qualification, age and reservation eligibility will be verified at the time of recruitment.

Candidates must be:
• An Indian national; or
• A citizen of Nepal; or
• a citizen of Bhutan; or
• A Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st January, 1962 with a view to permanently settle in India; or

Educational Qualification
Candidates applying for IBPS Probationary Officer Recruitment 2026 should possess a Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India or any equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

Reservation Details
Reservation for IBPS PO Recruitment 2026 will be provided as per the reservation norms of the Government of India. Reservation benefits are provided to eligible candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC–Non Creamy Layer), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Candidates claiming reservation should possess valid certificates in the prescribed format and produce the same wherever necessary during the course of recruitment.
Salary and Pay Scale
The selected candidates for the post of Probationary Officer (PO)/Management Trainee (MT) will be appointed on the following pay scale: Rs48,480–2,000/7–62,480–2,340/2–67,160–2,680/7–85,920. This implies that the starting basic pay is Rs48,480 and there will be periodic annual increments as prescribed till the maximum basic pay of Rs85,920 is reached. The appointed officers shall be entitled to receive allowances and perquisites in addition to the basic pay, such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, medical benefits and other facilities as per the rules and policies of the respective participating bank which are subject to amendment from time to time.
Application Fee
The candidates have to pay the prescribed application fee online while filling the IBPS PO online application form. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories shall pay an application fee of Rs175 (inclusive of GST) whereas candidates belonging to General, OBC and EWS categories shall pay an application fee of Rs850 (inclusive of GST). The payment must be made in online mode during the given application period.
Selection Process
1. Preliminary Examination
• Online mode.
• Objective type test consists of 100 questions for 100 marks.
• English Language, Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning Ability section.
• Candidates must qualify both the sectional and overall cut-offs to be shortlisted for the Main Examination.
2. Main Examination
• Online mode and comprises of Objective and Descriptive papers.
Objective test is of 200 marks and Descriptive paper is of 25 marks.
• Includes Reasoning, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation and Descriptive Paper.
3. Personality Test
• The Qualified Candidates of Main Examination are required to appear for a Personality Test.
• The test is compulsory but not qualifying.
• The Interview panel receives the personality profile.
4. Interview
• Shortlisted candidates will be called by the Participating Banks for Interview.
• Interview is 100 marks.
• Minimum qualifying marks are 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD Candidates)
5. Final Merit List
• Main Examination is given 80% weightage and Interview is given 20% weightage for preparation of final merit list.
To be eligible for final selection, the candidates must pass both stages.
6. Provisional Allotment
• Candidates are allotted provisionally to participating banks on the basis of merit-cum-preference, category and actual vacancies reported by the banks.

Negative Marking
There is negative marking in both Preliminary and Main objective examinations.
For every wrong answer, a deduction of one-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to the question will be made. There is no penalty for unanswered questions.
Cut-Off
IBPS will determine sectional as well as overall cut-off marks for each stage of the recruitment process.
Only candidates securing the minimum qualifying marks will be shortlisted for the next stage.
