This notification has been released to fill 129 vacancies in five Regional Councils of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Region-wise Vacancy Distribution

Of the total 150 vacancies, the Central India Regional Council (CIRC) has the highest number of vacancies at 42 posts, followed by Western India Regional Council (WIRC) at 31 posts and Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) at 29 posts. The Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) has 20 vacancies, and the Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) has 7 vacancies. Candidates can apply for only one region and select their preferred branch locations in that region in the online application.

Branch Category-wise Vacancies

Central India Regional Council (CIRC)

The CIRC has the highest number of vacancies with 42 posts in Categories I to VI. The important branch locations are Jaipur, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Raipur, Udaipur, Lucknow, Meerut, Dehradun, Bareilly, Varanasi, Bhilai, Bilaspur, Jamshedpur, Aligarh and many more. 

Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC)

There are 7 openings in the EIRC. It has branches in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Brahmapur, Jharsuguda, Durgapur, Raniganj and Siliguri under Category V and Category VI. 

Northern India Regional Council (NIRC)

The NIRC has 20 vacancies in branches like Gurugram, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Patiala, Ambala, Karnal, Shimla, Jammu and other places. 

Southern India Regional Council (SIRC)

The SIRC has 29 vacancies in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Some major branch locations are : Bengaluru , Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam , Madurai , Kakinada , Tiruchirappalli , Vellore etc. 

Western India Regional Council (WIRC)

WIRC is recruiting for 31 positions in Ahmedabad, Pune, Thane, Rajkot, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Pimpri Chinchwad, Bhavnagar and few other branches. 

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Salary and Compensation

The ICAI Branch In-Charge Salary is different from branch to branch basis category. The annual compensation will be between about ₹4.10 lakh and ₹7.45 lakh as per category of the assigned branch. The official notification mentions the salary package as Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and contributions under the National Pension System (NPS). In addition to the salary, the selected candidates shall also be eligible for Leave Travel Concession (LTC), Gratuity and other benefits as per the Service conditions of the Institute.

The Job Profile of ICAI Branch In-Charge comprises looking after the overall administration and functioning of an ICAI branch and ensuring smooth coordination with stakeholders, members, students and the Regional Council. The ICAI Branch In-Charge is responsible for overall administration and day to day operations of the branch while ensuring smooth coordination with Management Committee, members, students and other stakeholders. The job involves handling grievances, compliance of ICAI policies & procedures, supervision and guidance to branch staff, management of branch resources and budgets, maintenance of official records and reports, improving operational efficiency and any other work as assigned by the competent authority for smooth functioning of the branch.

Selection Process

The ICAI Selection Process consists of two stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT) 

2. Personal Interview 

Candidates will have to qualify in the CBT to be considered for interview. Final Merit List shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in CBT & Interview. 

Computer Based Test (CBT)

The ICAI Computer Based Test (CBT) will be held in online mode. The test will evaluate the candidates on communication, computer knowledge, accounting and general awareness.

The CBT is Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Descriptive Questions and is conducted in the English language only. 

Interview

Those candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks in the CBT and satisfy the eligibility norms will be shortlisted for the Interview.

Candidates shortlisted shall bring their original educational certificates and supporting documents for verification prior to interview. Candidates working in Government/Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies are required to bring No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of interview. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in interview. 

Final Merit List

The marks secured in the Computer Based Test and Interview shall be added to prepare the ICAI Final Merit List. Selection will be based on the overall performance of the candidates in the two phases. Exam Pattern

The ICAI Computer Based Test (CBT) will be conducted in online mode in English language. The examination will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Descriptive questions and will be for a total of 425 marks. Candidates will be allowed a period of 180 minutes (3 hours) to complete the examination.

CBT Syllabus

ICAI CBT Syllabus is divided into various sections such as communication, computer skills, accounting knowledge and general awareness.

Candidates should prepare well for English Comprehension, Email Writing, MS Office (Excel & Word), Basic Accounting, and General Awareness to do well in the examination. 

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The minimum qualifying marks for selection are 170 marks in the Computer Based Test (CBT) and 30 marks in the Interview as prescribed by the ICAI. Those candidates who qualify the minimum qualifying marks in both the stages and fulfil the eligibility conditions prescribed, shall be considered for preparation of final merit list.

Candidates applying for ICAI Recruitment 2026 are advised to pay the application fee of Rs. 250 (inclusive of applicable taxes) Application will be considered complete only after successful payment of fee and submission of all the required details. 

Branch Preferences

Applicants can apply to only one Regional Council (CIRC, EIRC, NIRC, SIRC or WIRC) and may indicate up to three preferred branch locations in the selected region. Multiple applications or duplicate applications may be disqualified. Candidates are advised that the Institute reserves the right to post selected candidates to any branch irrespective of the preferences indicated at the time of application. 

Required Documents

All the candidates applying for ICAI Branch In-Charge Recruitment 2026 have to upload all the documents as required in the prescribed format along with the online application. The notification does not give exhaustive list of documents but applicants should keep ready their recent passport size photograph, signature, educational qualification certificates, proof of post qualification work experience, valid Identity Proof, Age Proof and any other supporting documents required during application process. Probation Period

The selected Candidates for the post of Branch In-Charge will be on probation for a period of one year which may be extended if the performance during the probation period is found unsatisfactory.
